I work across technology, creativity, community, and curiosity. Most days that means designing cloud platforms. The rest of the time it means writing, speaking, making something with my hands, or setting up a table of games.
I found my way into cloud and platform engineering through a love of building things that work, and a curiosity about everything beneath the surface that makes them reliable. I enjoy turning complex infrastructure into calmer, clearer systems. The kind that help teams ship with confidence and leave room for good work. I've worked across AWS, infrastructure as code, containers, and delivery platforms, and I'm increasingly curious about AI systems and developer experience.
I am Nigerian and live in Germany. Both places shape how I work: the resourcefulness and warmth of home, and the structure and pace of building a life somewhere new. I stay closely connected to Nigeria: in community, in the people I build with, and in the games I source and share.
Curiosity is the engine. New services, new architectures, new ways to explain an idea. I learn in public, write down what I figure out, and keep a running list of things I don't understand yet.
I build community the same way I build systems: intentionally, with room for other people. Talks, workshops, group chats, game nights. Different formats, same goal. Get people in the same room and make it worth their time.
Originally my sister's nickname. I picked it up when she stopped using it (yes, we all answer Ade). It somehow became a conversation opener whenever I introduced myself to new friends. Family is a big deal to me. If you know me, you'll probably know about my sisters too. They're remarkable women and I feel lucky to have grown up alongside them. “Ade the Girl” makes room for the whole picture: the engineer, the writer, the speaker, the learner, and the person who enjoys a well-designed system and a well-run game night. It keeps the work human and reminds me that none of these threads need to compete with each other.
A few milestones from the path so far.
2017
Created my GitHub account and made my first open-source contribution. It has been a long journey since then.
2019
My freelancing career started before I finished my degree and ran until I left Nigeria in 2021. Alongside smaller projects for peers, I worked on two bigger projects for different companies. An invaluable way to learn and grow as a developer.
2020
Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Computer Science from Covenant University, Nigeria.
2021
I moved to Germany to keep building my career in cloud and platform engineering. It was a big change and an exciting chance to learn, grow, and work on things that mattered.
2022
I published my first technical content and began writing about cloud, AI, and software engineering.
2022
My first big talk, “The Way of the Graph,” was at GraphQL Summit 2022 in San Diego. I was 22. It pushed me well outside my comfort zone and kicked off a longer journey into speaking, events, and community.
2026
I started Ade's Game Room to create a welcoming place to play, learn, and discover board and card games. Sometimes people just need someone to play with, or an invitation to try something new.
